Sony Ericsson today announced the compact G502 for the mainstream audience in need of European HSDPA support. The G502 also comes with the latest version of Google Maps for Mobile, offering turn-by-turn directions and reviews and ratings of nearby restaurants and hotels, but the GPS Enabler HGE-100 accessory is required to receive GPS signals.
Just like the Z780, the G502 offers a "set-up wizard" to add web mail accounts or Exchange ActiveSync accounts for those who need that. The G502 operates on European GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) and HSDPA (2100 MHz) networks, and comes loaded with the Access NetFront web browser (Opera Mini can be added via download).
Measuring 109 by 46 by 13.5 mm and weighing 83.5 grams, the G502 also sports a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support and a 2-inch 262K screen (240 x 320 pixels). Sony Ericsson claims a talk time of 4.5 hours.
The Sony Ericsson G502 will be available in Champagne Black and Brilliant Hazel in selected markets from Q2 2008.
