Sony Ericsson Cedar

The Sony Ericsson Cedar is a member of the Sony Ericsson GreenHeart family which is an environmentally friendly range manufactured using recycled materials & packaging, & includes other phones such as the Sony Ericsson Elm & the Sony Ericsson Hazel which are also GreenHeart phones but with differing features, technologies & overall casing designs. The Cedar is a 3G capable mobile phone which has a simplistic bar form casing. Its features include social network integration complete with a widget manager, two megapixel camera with 4 x zoom, radio, media player, Internet browser & it supports 3G HSDPA technology.

Appearance & Size
This 3G phone comes in two colour combinations which include a black front case with a silver coloured back, or a combination of black front section with a red coloured back panel. The two chosen colours of the casing meet together on both sides of the casing, which provides an elegant shaped swish where they meet. Its screen is a TFT QVGA screen which has a 240 pixel by 320 pixel screen resolution & it has a 262,000 colour display. The screen measures 2.2 inches when measured diagonally & positioned beneath this screen is a square shaped navigation control plus an alphanumeric keypad. The Sony Ericsson Cedar has a light weight design casing weighing only eighty four grams in total, & the casing is 11.1cm in height, 4.9cm in width & 1.55cm in depth.

Imaging, Media & Entertainment
Taking a photo or recording a video is possible using the handsets built in two megapixel camera. This camera has a rear facing lens allowing the user to use the colour screen as a viewfinder plus it supports a 4 x digital zoom feature & a geo tagging facility if the user wishes to tag their photos. The Cedar has a media player which allows the user to enjoy listening to their music on the move plus the user can view videos on the colourful screen. The phones music features include a PlayNow™ music download feature & a TrackID™ music recognition feature. Its video capabilities allow the user of the Cedar to enjoy video playback, video streaming & video recording on this GreenHeart handset. Games can be enjoyed by the user & this mobile phone supports 3D gaming for a realistic gaming experience & the user can download new games onto their phone to suit the users gaming preferences. Social networking is a highly popular way to let others know exactly what you have been doing or what plans you have, which provides a fun method of communication. The Sony Ericsson Cedar comes with a widget manager which allows the user to control their widgets on their home screen which may include a Facebook™, MySpace™ or Twitter™ applications. The widgets allow the user to simply click once on the chosen widget to gain instant access to the user chosen application, whatever it may happen to be. The user can communicate with others via a video call & the main camera will capture the user's expression which can be viewed by the other video calling contact. The Cedar supports a hands free speaker call feature, vibration alert option & a flight mode setting if required by the user. Its messaging features provide another method of communication other than making a call. There is an email service which supports Exchange ActiveSync®, a text & multimedia message service which can be used depending on the users messaging needs plus an instant messaging service. The user can view their messages in a conversation type layout which is a user friendly layout when the user is sharing messages frequently with their favourite contacts.

Technology & Internet
The Sony Ericsson Cedar has 280 megabytes of internal memory & supports external memory for further memory expansion. Its memory card slot can hold a MicroSD™ memory card which is up to sixteen gigabytes in memory size. It works over a 3G network plus over quad band GSM networks depending on the user's network requirements & the phones features being used. 3G technology provides the user of the Cedar with high speed connectivity when required & the user can enjoy their video calling feature thanks to the phones 3G capabilities. The Access NetFront™ Web browser is located via the main menu & supports a bookmarks feature allowing the user to bookmark their favourite websites for easy access next time the user accesses the Web. When the fitted battery is fully charged the user can expect to gain up to four & a half hours of GSM talk time or three & a half hours of talk time over a 3G network. When the user requires a connection to another device then a USB connection or Bluetooth® connection can be made between compatible devices, allowing the user to transfer data freely between the two connected devices at high speeds thanks to the built in EDGE & GPRS technology.
